Following Chelsea's 2-0 defeat by Everton in the quarter-finals of the English FA Cup on Saturday evening, the outgoing champions will almost certainly end the 2015/2016 season trophyless, but top Nigerian comedian, Akpororo, whose real name is Jephta Bowoto, has tipped the Blues to bounce back from the disappointment next season. Alarmed.
Akpororo believes the lessons learned from the poor season at Stamford Bridge will ensure better management and commitment in the 2016/2017 season.
"This is very sad, not even the FA Cup. Most of the Chelsea players lacked the commitment and passion we all saw in them the previous season," the comedian told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"I really hope the club have learned from this disappointment. There are better ways to handle crisis and I trust they will avoid the issues we read in the newspapers. I don't know if it's true that some of the players betrayed Jose Mourinho as is being said, but whatever be the case, I feel Chelsea are better than this.
Akpororo, a brand ambassador of a leading telecommunication company, however is relieved the club were able to get out of the relegation places.
"Some months back we were talking about Chelsea occupying the 16th, 17th position. Thankfully, they have improved and the talk now is at least a place in the Europa League. If they win it next season, maybe that will ease this pain," Akpororo told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Chelsea were eliminated in the FA Cup at the Goodison Park no thanks to goals from former player, Romelu Lukaku.
