Bacary Sagna admits his old Arsenal team-mates were behind him becoming the latest star to ditch the Emirates for Manchester City.
Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri both left the Gunners in search of trophies — and spoke to Sagna about moving when his contract was up this summer.
The France full-back, 31, has arrived on a free transfer and could face his old side in Sunday’s Community Shield.
Sagna said: “I spoke many times as they knew I was free and knew I wanted to move.
“They said to me ‘you should come as we have a great team and great mentality’, players are here to work really hard to win trophies’.
“I was thinking about it and when the opportunity came I chose the right one.
“I used to play with some of the players here and it will make my move easier. I already feel well in the team and I am looking forward to the season.”
