Northampton Saints face an anxious wait to find out the severity of the knee injury suffered by centre Andrew Symons on Saturday. The 27-year-old, who was making his first start since he moved to the Saints from Gloucester in the summer, was forced off at half-time in the 17-15 Premiership defeat against Bath at the Recreation Ground.
And Saints boss Chris Boyd revealed that Symons will require a scan on Monday before they can determine how long he will be sidelined for.
He said: “He’s got a little problem with his knee so we won’t know the extent of that until after the scan.
“It was tricky conditions for [Symons’ replacement] Andrew (Kellaway) and he didn’t get a lot of opportunities but he’ll be better for the game he’s had.”
Meanwhile, Boyd could look to make some changes for the trip to Bristol next Saturday with the Saints suffering a third defeat in four outings so far this term.
He added: “It’s obviously a pretty important game for us. They’re all important but we’ll pick the best side we can next week.
“They (Bristol) have been going well and they play a lot of football.
“They’ve got some really good quality individuals and they’re going to be a handful at Bristol.”
