–Card offences rules out Eagles star out of crucial Confederations Cup 3rd round tie
Super Eagles striker, Gbolahan Salami, will play no part in his club Warri Wolves crucial 3rd round CAF Confederation Cup first leg clash Sunday in Brazzaville Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
A 27-man contingent of ambitious Warri Wolves comprising 17 players and eight officials departed Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos Thursday afternoon without the power-shooting forward.
The team flew Ethiopian Airline at 1.3pm.
Completesportsnigeria.com understands Salami had been cautioned twice in the previous games hence the one-match suspension by CAF.
It was understood the former Shooting Stars forward had been listed for the trip but a last minute discovery of his ineligibility ensured the contingent's players quota was reduced by one.
Head of the delegation that also included NFF staff Emmanuel Adesanya, Davidson Owumi said the team is in high spirit for a decent outing in Brazzaville.
"The players are in high spirit, they are motivated and we remain grateful to Delta State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan for his encouragement and motivation.
"We are hoping to go there and as usual, do our best and believing that God will crown our efforts with success", Owumi, a former Enugu Rangers Chief Executive Officer, CEO, said.
