Sampaoli: Argentina Will Do Everything To Beat Nigeria

Sampaoli: Argentina Will Do Everything To Beat Nigeria

Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli admitted that his players will have to play with all their heart if they are to claim a win against Group D foes Nigeria and progress into the knockout stages at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The South Americans face the prospect of exiting the competition early after picking just one point from their opening two games.

The Albiceleste were handed a 3-0 defeat by Croatia last week Friday and will need to beat the Super Eagles at the Krestovsky Stadium to stand any chance of staying in the competition.

“For us it’s a momentous game, I think both teams are going to do everything possible to qualify, that makes the match very attractive,” Sampaoli told reporters in Saint Petersburg on Monday.

“The week was difficult after the defeat, it puts us in the commitment to depend on a result, I am convinced that the team is going to win tomorrow.

“This game has to be played with the heart, we have to do everything possible so that Argentina is in the next phase.

“Nigeria have played with two different systems, they have very relevant players, with experience, Argentina will have to control the game so that there is no round-trip match.

“I’m sure tomorrow they will see the best version of the Argentine National Team in this World Cup.”

Sampaoli who is expected to make a number of changes to the side that fell to Croatia also spoke about finding a new role for the team’s captain Lionel Messi.

“I think the structure of the match with Croatia did not favour Messi, we try to improve and hopefully tomorrow we can receive more balls,” he added.

“Beyond the fact that I have the team in my head, I do not want to confirm it because I have not yet communicated it to the players.”

  • Big, big dreamer you are. The wranglings in your camp have put you in a deep, deep trance. The SuperEagles will help send you home so you’ll have all the time to sort out your problems. Argentina must fall.

Sorry Sir, Argentina is on their way home. U cannot do more than ur power. The present Argentina team is Powerless with Old men that cannot withstand Super Eagles fire power

“Beyond the fact that I have the team in my head, I do not want to confirm it because I have not yet communicated it to the players.”

There you go. A day to the match Argentina’s coach is running around the bush. However, Argentina believe in Messi while Nigeria believe in God.
Let’s wait and see. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • I don’t know what will happen to Argentina if they are without Messi. Everywhere now is messi! messi! mess! as if …ha!! ha! May God help us today to conquer our goliath IJN.

Nigeria trust in God, but Argentina trust in messi. It is written “woe unto those that put their trust on man”

Here is a nightmare that I hope does not come to pass. So far, the VAR system, although on paper seems a good idea, in practice, already some countries have suffered from poor or biased decisions. Had Morocco scored against Spain and was adjudged offside, the lineman’s decision would have stood and Morocco denied a goal. If Pique played for Morocco, he would have seen red. Same problem with Serbia. People forget that VAR is manned by humans not robots and they will bring their own biases to the game. I hope VAR does not translate to Video Assisted Racists. Nigeria must win by a convincing margin not to allow bad officiating go against them. Good luck Super Eagles,

    eagles will win.

I am already feeling kinda sad that our last match is against Messi-Argentina and this match will decide who join Croatia to the round 16.
There will be bias and for sure, it is obvious who the “superpowers” and “decision-markers” will opt for !!!

Africans, most especially have suffered !
We are just striving by the Grace of The Most High!!!

Yes, “They” would definitely allow us to beat Iceland but for sure “They”‘ have already known who and who they want to qualify from each group

Let’s take the game of Portugal vs Iran for example, can someone tell me why Cr7 didn’t get a red card…? I’m his fan but he causes and infringement that is red-card bound…..no difference from what Song did in the last World Cup in Brazil.

How about the referee stopping matches to go consult the VAR to make decisions in some matches but decline to do that when countries like Egypt, Morocco, Serbia etc demanded same against “bigger” opponents ???!!!

All Argentina need tomorrow to go thru is just 3 points and ….in as much as I stand firm to believe in my heart that the Nigerian team have all it will take to savage a result and go thru….my mind tells me that the game has already being played with the result known to the “owners”!

    God dey!!!!

If only Nigeria realizes that we have a big heart than Argentina and rest of the world then we will bring our Nigerian spirit of strong determination to play and come out victorious regardless of VAR and the demon officials. I repeat let us fight like the Iran team and trust me with the ruthless burst forward and compact no nonsense confidence defense Argentina will cry before 70mins

Argentina are the cause of their own woes, since after breaking the hearts of Israel, when they abruptly called off a friendly match with Israel, due to threats by Hamas and Palestinians. God’s Word is very clear in this regard: they are cursed who curse Israel, and blessed those who bless Israel (Gen 12:3).

  • stevens Bernard 3 years ago

True talk @ Ralph. Right now the hand of God is against the Argentines. Let the Super Eagles take a lesson from the encounters of Israel against the Philistines.
As soon as they sense that the hand if God is against the philistines the Israelites go all out for the kill. Go Super Eagle for the kill, God has given the Argentines into your hand this day.
My prediction nothing short of a kill today. God bless NAIJA.
