By David Meshioye:
Nigerian striker Aaron Samuel believes CSKA Moscow stand a very good chance of progressing to the UEFA Champions League group stage, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The former Guangzhou RF striker hinged his confidence on the camaraderie and optimism within the CSKA squad.
CSKA Moscow will on 15 August face Young Boys FC in the first leg of the Champions League play-offs and host the Swiss side a week later.
"Young Boys are no pushovers but we are determined to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage," Samuel, who scored his first Russian Premier League goal on Wednesday since his return to CSKA Moscow this summer, told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"The feeling within the team is great and everyone knows what is at stake here. "Surely our opponents will put up a good fight but we can't just allow this opportunity to pass us by.
Samuel, who thrived under the late Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, could be making an international return after reports that current Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr is considering him for a recall.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
