By Adeboye Amosu: Nigerian forward, Aaron Samuel, is set to make his official debut for Amkar Perm in today’s Russian Cup quarter-final fixture against National League outfit Avangard, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Samuel recently linked up with Amkar Perm on loan from another Russian, CSKA Moscow, and has impressed in friendly games for the club.
The forward struggled for regular playing time at CSKA Moscow and scored one goal in seven league appearances for the club.
Samuel told his club’s official website on Monday of his desire to be part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and a good run of form for the club may put him in the thinking of Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr.
“Everyone wants to get to the World Cup, and I’m no exception. But for this I need to play regularly and play well. That’s why I moved to Amkar,” Samuel stated.
The two other Nigerians at the club, Brian Idowu and Fengor Ogude are also in contention for starting berths.
Former Super Eagles defender, Dele Adeleye, could also play his play his first official game for his Russian club SKA Khabarovsk when they face Shinnik in another quater- final fixture.
Adeleye only linked up with the modest club as a free agent last week.
