Super Sand Eagles on Sunday ended the 2015 Copa Lagos beach soccer tournament as runners-up after a thrilling 7-4 win over Lebanon.
As was the case in 2014, Ivory Coast cruised to the top spot and went home with the cup after dealing a 6-4 bpow to Three Lions of England, ending the tournament as overall winners with nine points.
The Nigerian side, just as was also the case last year, finished the tournament as second best.
Azeez Abu got the Nigerian side in front just two minutes into the first period, but the Lebanese, making their first appearance in the Copa Lagos tournament, came back into it just three minutes later.
The huge crowd in attendance was kept on their toes with delightful play all through the game.
Audu Adamu, Nigeria beach soccer coach was delighted he did not finish the tournament empty-handed.
"We came into the tournament hoping to reclaim the trophy we lost last year to Ivory Coast but could not achieve that objective," Adamu told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"But all the same, it was not all that bad as we have some positives to take home.
"We used the competition to test some young players to see how they can fit well into the squad going into the FIFA Beach Coccer World Cup qualifiers.
"Don't forget that coming out second though not our target from the start but at least it proved a fair reward as we did not finish the competition empty-handed."
