Sarri: Chelsea Suffered Physically Vs United, We Didn’t Play Our Football

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted that his side suffered physically in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Manchester United.

Ross Barkley scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Chelsea after Anthony Martial’s brace had canceled out Antonio Rudiger’s opener after 20 minutes.

“It’s very difficult to play the match after the international break because the players go to play in another team, another football, another target then they come back and it’s not easy,”Sarri told the BBC.

“At the end of the match it was very good, a fantastic match, in the first half in the tactical part we did very well but in the second half we played their match, the physical match which is not for us.

“We have played very well in the first hour but then we have played the match of United. A physical match, and United are better than us in a physical match.”

“I am disappointed with the last 30 minutes. We could win but at the end one point is enough.”

“We were not organised for the long ball, we usually play with short passes so we were not organised for this in the last half hour. This is not our football. I prefer to play our football for 90 minutes.”

On the melee that happened after the game, Sarri said: “I didn’t see what happened but I have spoken to Jose Mourinho. I understood that we were in the wrong side of the situation. I have spoken to a member of my staff and have dealt with this immediately.”

“Sincerely I have not seen {what happened] but I have spoken with Jose [Mourinho] then I have spoken with a member of staff because I think we were on the wrong side so I have dealt with it immediately.”

“If I speak to a member of staff and am very hard [with him] I cannot come here and tell everything because then I am not credible with the staff.”

I think Chelsea played a good game. Maybe one or two things affected them tactically. But the out come is not too bad
