Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri hopes his side’s inability to score in recent home games in the Premier League will end when they host Newcastle United on Saturday, reports Completesports.com.
Chelsea have failed to score a goal in their two previous home games and the Italian admits its a problem they have to solve when they face the Magpies.
The Blues last scored a goal at Stamford Bridge against Manchester City in the EPL, and the drought continued against Leicester City and Southampton,
“The match will be very difficult. They are doing better away. It is a difficult opponent away, I think the match will be the same. I hope of course to score in the first 30 minutes, but if the match will be the same then we have to be patient,” Sarri said during his press conference ahead of the Chelsea – Newcastle clash.
“We have played very well in the offensive phase but we need to improve in the box, attacking the space.
“We need to score, of course. We need to solve this problem. In the last match, we played very well, with continuity. With a great performance from the physical point of view, but we didn’t score. Now we have this problem. We need to solve this problem.”
On his Chelsea’s involvement in the January transfer window, Sarri fielded questions concerning the future of Willian, Callum Hudson Odoi, Alvaro Morata and the positions he needs reinforcement.
“As you can understand, I cannot tell you where. The club knows my opinion. My opinion is important for the club, but I cannot tell you my opinion,” Sarri stated.
“It is crazy to have a transfer window at this part of the season. We have a game every three days, but the summer is crazy as well. In August we played three or four matches.
“You have to call the club and ask about the market, I don’t know what to answer. Of course not [to lose him Willian], he is a very important player.
“I think he can do better, because the potential is higher. He is really very important for us so it is impossible to lose him in January. Usual he wants the ball on the fifth, I think he can improve off the ball.

“Yesterday Alvaro had training with the team-mates, so we have to see the last training today. I hope he will be able to play. There are 300 players involved in the market and they need to think only to the next match otherwise it is impossible to play.”
Sarri also expressed his displeasure on Bayern Munich’s approach on Hudson-Odoi.
The German side have offered $40m for the 18-year-old winger.
“I think it is not professional. They are talking about a player under contract with Chelsea, so they didn’t respect our club, I think. I am very happy with the player, he is improving a lot. He needs to move in some moments without the ball. I would like to have him in the future,” he said.
On the exit of Cesc Fabregas, Sarri added: “You know very well my opinion, I think he needs to go. At the moment for his mental condition. He is not able to play, I think. I need a replacement, but I don’t need an important player like Cesc unhappy here.
“As you know very well, I am not in control of the transfer market. In my opinion, we need two players, but then it is up to the club.
On Andreas Christensen, Sarri noted that the Danish defender is gradually imbibing his playing philosophy.
“I don’t know, he played very well also in the previous match. He has improved in defending by looking at the ball. Now he is ready to play, I think we have a very good option for David, for Rudiger, he is ready to play,” he said.
“I don’t know tomorrow. The same for Callum, he was a little tired for tomorrow as he played two matches in three days. I want to see today, the level.”
