Sarri: Moses Doesn’t Fit Into My Style Of Play

By Adeboye Amosu

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, has offered an explanation as to why Victor Moses is out of favour at the club, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

Moses was an integral part of Antonio Conte’s last two seasons at Stamford Bridge, where he reinvented himself as a wing-back and helped his side to league and FA Cup titles, but has been sparsely used this campaign.

Aside Moses, England midfielder, Danny Drinkwater hasn’t featured since coming off the bench in the Community Shield against Manchester City as his struggles since a £35 million move from Leicester City under Antonio Conte have continued this season.

Sarri explained why the duo are not featuring much in the early stages of his tenure at the club.

“Moses is more suitable for playing wing back than like a winger or a full back, I think. I don’t know [if they have a future]. They have to improve but their characteristics are a little bit different,” Sarri told reporters.

“I think the situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two other midfielders. I told him two months ago what I think.”

Moses is rumoured to be unhappy about his status at
at the club and could set to leave the former Premier League champions in January.

He has been linked with a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and a return to his former club, Crystal Palace.

Chelsea face Crystal Palace on Sunday in the Premier League as they aim to extend their unbeaten run in the competition to 11 games.

  • But why can’t Sarri position Moses as one of his right full-back options? Ashley Young was successfully converted full back and so was Valencia; both for the same Manchester United.
If Sarri has doubts about Moses attacking prowess, his defensive qualities and positioning are not in doubt. He could deputise for Zappacosta and be allowed to grow into that role.
That said, should Victor Moses continue to see himself as an offensive player or an out-and-out winger, then, his future in all probability lies outside Sarri’s Stamford Bridge.

Even at that @sir deo, Azpilicueta and Zappacosta will still be above Moses in the pecking order. Upfront, moses carries the least goalscoring threat amongst all of chelsea’s forward players. His only assets in the chelsea team is his ability to take on defenders….but most times also, when you look at the outcomes of such take-ons, it leaves much to be desired. Its the SE that gives moses the platform to raise his shoulders…its in the super eagles, forces himself to take freekicks he doesnt even attempt in chelsea training, its in the SE he gets to take penalties, its in the SE he gets to act his usual ‘prima-donna’ atitude….unfortunately for him….he’s retired from that same SE and we arent even mising him at all for us to warrant begging him to come back. But if he loves his career, he’d better rescind that decision. If this is the same club career he retired to save, then that simply means his retirement wasnt justified. Moses has had so many opportunities to prove himself to be a ‘star’ player…..played at liverpool, westham, stoke and chelsea….but his most productive season was when he was converted to a defender. Maybe he isnt a star player afterall. He should better humble himself and give G.rohr a call asap. And he shouldnt be decieved by the purported interest by Man U. He’s not the type of player man u needs now…either as an attacker or as a defender. he’s too lazy to play under a coach like mourinho who will expect his players to work of their assess during matches. His best bet will be a midtable team or a relegation haunted team. He probably wasnt a ‘star player’ afterall.

    • His best move would be a possible return to crystal Palace and as you said, a right back.

I think the Man U story is a red herring. The football sites are awash with rumours of moves, mostly of players who’s agents are looking to make a buck (Kalu to Roma, Onyekuru to PSG or Bayern). Moses to CP is possibly the only credible move I have heard in advance of the winter transfer table.

let him see out his playing days at the club that brought him to the limelght

  • i knew diz. i said diz on facebook after the game against poland and serbia. after i saw his performers and attitude…so said victor moses will be the saddest man if conte leave, except they convert him to fullback. na moses shakara finish am oo. he felt he was bigger than super eagle, and want such respect in the pitch and from the coaches, so it made him angry wen they take away (frick kick) i mean free kick playin out of him and gave it to kelechi and etebo. well victor moses i think warri wolves need you.
