Chelsea boss Mauricio Sarri has said Gary Cahill still features in his plans this season and does not want the defender to leave.
Having dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, former England international Cahill has found game-time hard to come by and has been limited to a start against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
Sarri says he was impressed with Cahill’s performance against the Reds and is eager to keep the veteran centre-back at the club beyond the January transfer window.

He said: “I have spoken with him, but I think that there is October, November and December so he has to wait.
“We have to wait. I repeat, I was really very happy with the performance of Cahill against Liverpool this week.
“So, now, Gary for me is very useful. I don’t know: January is far from now.
“We will see in October, November and December.”
