Marcus Ericsson and Antonio Giovinazzi are the names in the frame to drive for Sauber next season, with a decision expected soon. Sauber announced earlier in September that Kimi Raikkonen will be joining them from Ferrari in 2019 on a two-year deal to replace Charles Leclerc, but the man who will partner him at the Zurich-based team remains a mystery.
Ericsson is the driver in possession of the seat and is currently in his fourth season for Sauber having made the switch from Caterham after the 2014 Formula 1 campaign.
The Swede is hoping that his sponsorship deals will be enough to keep hold of his job but Ferrari reportedly want Giovinazzi to take the drive.
It has been suggested that Sauber’s deal with Alfa Romeo gives Ferrari pulling power over one of their drivers and 24-year-old Italian Giovinazzi is their preferred choice.
Team boss Fred Vasseur is keen to get the issue resolved sooner rather than later, saying: “The last two weeks for me have been a bit of a rush on the driver market.
“After Singapore we will sit down with all the persons involved in the discussions and we will take a decision quite soon because I think it’s also good for the team to have a clear answer but it will be soon.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
