Saudi Arabia coach Juan Antonio Pizzi has admitted that he must make changes but expressed confidence that his side can bounce back from their 2018 FIFA World Cup opening game 5-0 thrashing in the hands of hosts Russia on Thursday.
Despite their poor run during their pre-World Cup games, Russia put up a five-star performance at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow with the massive win.
Reacting to his team’s defeat Pizzi, sounded optimistic the result will not affect subsequent games.
“It was a tough game and we suffered a big and unexpected defeat,” Pizzi said in his post-match press conference.
“Russia did very well, while we did not appear to be in good shape. I don’t believe that the opposing team has done anything to surprise us – I think that a poor performance explains the result.
“As for our strategy, we must change. We have to forget about it now and think of the next match. I have confidence in these players.”
Saudi’s next game is against Uruguay on Wednesday.
