Norway international Ole Selnaes has revealed Fulham were interested in signing him during the summer. The Cottagers spent over £100million during the off-season, bringing in the likes of Jean Michael Seri, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Alfie Mawson to boost their squad ahead of their Premier League return.
However, one player they appear to have missed out on is Saint-Etienne midfielder Selnaes, who has confirmed although the Cottagers did not make an official approach for his services, they did show an interest in bringing him to west London.
In an interview with But! Football Club in France, Selnaes said: “That club (Fulham) has been following me for a while, even if nobody came to speak to me directly. I didn’t receive an offer.”
Selnaes emerged on Fulham’s radar following two successful seasons in France and his good form has continued this term, as he has helped Saint-Etienne make an unbeaten start to the new Ligue 1 campaign.
The 24-year-old admits he has desires of moving to a bigger club in the future although for the time being he is happy at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
He added: “Maybe one day I’ll be strong enough to play in a top club. That’s what matters to me: to progress, to become the best player possible.
“I’m lucky to be in a big club. We’ll see if one day I can be in an even bigger club. But it’s not something that obsesses me. My only concern is to be efficient.”
