Sevilla are reportedly ready to cancel Sergio Rico’s loan spell in January after discovering he is Fulham’s third choice keeper. The La Liga outfit loaned the 25-year-old to the Cottagers in the summer after signing Czech keeper Tomas Vaclik from FC Basel.
He made 24 top-flight appearances for Sevilla last season and would have expected to be a strong candidate to take the gloves from Marcus Bettinelli, who was a regular in Fulham’s promotion campaign.
However, four matches into the season and Rico is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the club – although he did get the start in the Carabao Cup win over Exeter City.
Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic started the season with Fabri between the posts against Crystal Palace and Tottenham but, after back-to-back defeats, recalled Bettinelli for the win over Burnley.
The Englishman kept his place for the draw at Brighton, with Fabri sitting on the bench, leaving Rico still seemingly third choice.
Fabri started on Saturday against ATK with Rico coming off the bench at half-time but Sevilla are unimpressed with the amount of action their man is seeing and have made contingency plans to send him to Italy.
Reports claim Inter Milan are looking to add another experienced keeper to add competition to their ranks and are eyeing a move for Rico in the January transfer window, if his Fulham stay is ended early.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
