Shakespeare “Frustrated” Over Delay In Iheanacho’s Leicester Arrival

By James Agberebi:

Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare is hopeful a deal to bring Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho to the club can be finalised before the start of the new Premier League season.

It was earlier reported that a deal for Iheanacho had been ‘agreed in principle’ between Manchester City and Leicester j for a fee that could rise to £25m.

But it was reported that finalisation of the deal was being held up by contractual issues, including the possibility of a buy-back clause and a dispute over Iheanacho’s image rights.

When asked if the deal Iheanacho will soon be done, Shakespeare told Sky Sports: “I’m hoping so, but I am like every other manager at the moment. I think we all find it frustrating but it is the current market.

“You saw with the Harry Maguire one, we got that done quick – when he is in the door we can announce it.

“At the moment, of course, we are interested in players as most of the Premier League is, but you can see that clubs won’t really talk about it until they are over the line.”

If Iheanacho eventually joins Leicester, he will be their fourth signing following the acquisition of midfielder Vicente Iborra from Sevilla, goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic from Hull City and highly-rated Chester youngster Sam Hughes.
