As the date for the Orange Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea draws near, experts seem to have begun to feel the missing of the defending champions, Nigeria in the 2015 tournament.
According to the former national team player, the whole of Africa will miss the Super Eagles at the tournament. “I am not happy with the fact that we will not be participating at the tournament. It would have been good if we are there, though not to make numbers anyway, but to make huge impact. At least, for being defending champions, that alone would have added more value to the tournament”, says the ex-international.
“Honestly, without even saying it, I’m certain that every Nigerian will feel deeply hurt when the tournament kicks-off and the Super Eagles are not among the countries featuring in the 2015 edition.”
“To be candid with you, I think it’s right now that the reality of our non-qualification for the championship has really dawn on us seeing the kick-off date so near.”
The 2015 edition of the CAF organized tournament will be held from 17 January to 8 February next year.
