There have been suggestions the former Bastia of France in the national team are numbered given his non invitation for the friendly game against Bafana Bafana of South Africa last month.

But the onetime Besiktas of Turkey shot-stopper told Complete Sports Wednesday that the idea to leave out some players for the Super Eagles clash with Chad was informed by the fact that some foreign based players are still involved in their clubs league or cup games.

He added that there are still plenty games to play next month when most of the players will be virtually on holidays.

“Austin (Ejide), like every other player is still a member of the senior national team”, starts Shorunmu in a most frank tone.

“The fact he was not listed for the game with Chad does not change anything. There are also some others who were not invited too.
