–Says U-20 side will excel in Senegal
Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu has wished the Flying Eagles a successful outing as they departed the country for the 2015 African Youth Championship billed to kick off this weekend in Senegal.
The Flying Eagles who won the Glo Super Four tourney held in Abuja recently will be facing host nation Senegal in their first outing and Shorunmu a former Grasshopper of Switzerland goalkeeper has urged the team to win the match.
“So far, the team is not a bad one, they have proved that here during the Super Four tournament in Abuja and I am sure they can do it again. I can only advice them to be focused and give their best each time they go to the field to play”, says the Ibadan based ex-international.
“They must also realise that the African Youth Championship is different from the Super Four match they won here in Nigeria and they must not underrate any of their opponents in the tournament while we will be here praying for them.
The National U-20 side who departed the country’s shores on Wednesday will play Senegal, Congo and Cote d’ Ivoire during the preliminary round of the tournament billed to kick off on March 8.
Shorunmu however called on Nigerians to support and pray for the team handled by Coach Manu Garba to be successful at the tournament.
