By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Sequel to Super Eagles lacklustre display against second tier Nigerian league side Katsina United FC on Thursday, interim coach, Samson Siasia has wielded the big stick by axing six players invited for the clash against Egypt on March 25 from the camp, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The players who were told not to return to Super Eagles camp after this weekend's league matches are Kano Pillars forward Prince Aggrey and Chris Madaki, Wikki Tourist FC's Hassan Ya'u, Enyimba' s Ezekiel Bassey, Oghenetegah Oke of Warri Wolves FC and Bright Onyedikachi of Ifeanyi Ubah FC who was demoted to the national Under-23 team
"I have asked them to go because they did not measure up to the standard we want. They have not shown enough verve to be in the Super Eagles, so we have asked them to go back to their respective clubs and work harder to be recalled next time.
"Those that are left must work harder to remain with the team. National team's demands are greater than club's, so if you are invited to the Super Eagles, we expect to see the best of everyone. Those sent packing could be recalled next time if they continue to improve in their clubs, but for now, they have fallen short of our expectation," Siasia stated on Friday.
