U-23 Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has handed FC Porto midfielder, Mikel Agu a one-week trial with Nigeria’s Olympic national team
Completesportsnigeria.com can exclusively report.
The former Flying Eagles star who spent last season on loan at Club Brugge was part of the players who trained under the guidance of Siasia at the practice pitch of the National Stadium in Abuja.
"You can rightly call this another round of trials for Mikel because he is not one of the players penciled down for the trip to the Atlanta, United States, based on the pronouncement of coach Samson Siasia," an impeccable source revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com.
Siasia who is expected to name his provisional squad for the Rio 2016 Olympics before next week, is battling hard to secure the release of the trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac Success and Moses Simon for the Games.
"There are some issues to be sorted out with the release of Iheanacho and Success. Iheanacho will be eager to impress his new coach at Manchester City, Pep Guadiola, while Success may be on the move this summer and that could determine if he will be released for the Olympics.
"Siasia wants to list players who will show up for the Games, so we don't get stranded just like how he was with Taye Taiwo prior to the Beijing Olympics." concludes the source.
