Siasia: Iheanacho Ripe For Eagles

Former Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Samson Siasia has made a passionate case for the inclusion of former Golden Eaglets attacking midfielder, Kelechi Iheanacho into the mainstream Super Eagles fold.

Siasia, himself a former Flying Eagles coach and one time U-23 Dream Team handler who won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in China admonished the Super Eagles handlers to give the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden boot winner a chance in the senior national squad.

“I think Kelechi Ihenacho is ripe for the Super Eagles, we should not think the lad is still young”, Siasia said at the Celestine Babayaro Youth Foundation football competition held at the weekend in Abuja.

The competition is aimed at discovering talents in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

“He has potentials and good composure on and off the ball. Manchester City see something in him, that is why they signed him and so far he’s lived up to that potential in the friendly games he’s so far played.

“He proved himself during Manchester City preseason tour of the US, where he gave above one hundred per cent performance.

“This is the right time to integrate him into the senior national team irrespective of his age, I believe he can learn and grow from there”, Siasia stressed.

Thanks very much Mr Siasia. I still believe that Iheanacho would have improved the Super Eagles at the World Cup. He should have been inthe Squad and brought in as a substitute in games where Nigeria needed some individual magic. Iheanacho is also a great team player, and has the ability to create numerous chances and assists

It is suprising that he is not yet in the Senior Team. There is currently no player in the Super Eagles that is more technically gifted and more dangerous in the attacking 3rd of the football pitch. Nigieria needs Iheanacho even more than a human being needs food and water.

Nigeria is currently lacking a genuine goal scorer, yet there are eligible players like Stephano Okaka of Sampdoria who i am sure will play if he is invited.
