Siasia: Musa’s Pace, Energy Made Difference For Super Eagles

By Johnny Edward:

Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has hailed Ahmed Musa for his brilliant second half display which earned Nigeria a 2-0 win over Iceland in a 2018 World Cup group game at the Volgograd Arena on Friday.

The Leicester City winger became the first Nigeria player to score in consecutive World Cups and the first to score two times in two different World Cup matches following his brace in the encounter.

Siasia reckons that the Super Eagles started slowly but turned the corner after Musa’s opener.

Siasia, working as a guest analyst on SuperSport TV, said: “It was an impressive performance from the Super Eagles. They did well after the slow start.”

“Musa pace and energy brought more life to the team and they were more quicker which was the difference.”

The former Super Eagles coach also added that the team were lucky Gyfli Sigurdsson missed his spot kick.

“The team was lucky Sigurdsson missed his penalty because if he scored the pressure would have been more on the team,” the 1994 World Cup star added.

Nigeria will play her final group game against Argentina who’s still win less after two games.

While everybody was busy celebrating our 2nd goal, IGHALO was seen in the video whispering something to Rohr. I hope there is no some back door arrangements between the 2? Ighalo should watch the next game from the bench. There are other Forwards in the team who are much more better than him. I saw Simy Nwankwo, Iwobi, Ezenwa etc all jubilating but Ighalo was on the side of Rohr whispering some words to his ears. We need to know what is happening between the two.

I saw it tooa and it’s totally embarrassing. I guess he was begging to come on as he could be seen gesturing towards dressing up. When he eventually came on, he looked lethargic and wasn’t making right passes. He should be benched against Argentina.
My men of the match remains Musa, Omeruo and Ndidi. Proud of this boys. I hope they play to win against Argentina rather than coming with the mindset to pick a draw, which could spell.doom.
    Congratulations naija…

  • I still have faith in Ighalo and feel that – if played to his strengths – he can complement Musa upfront for a deadly Nigerian strike-force.

I will have no problems if he is started in the next match.

In the meantime, well done Musa.

  • amazing! So Musa has now gone from Headless Chicken to Hero, wonderful people.

  • @deo please ighalo has no business starting, iheanacho and musa brought life to our attack in fact i would prefer simy if anything to pair with iheanacho or musa if any change needs to be made, Don’t fix was isn’t broken, period!!!

ighalo can still deliver in a two man attack, I think he have not played in that system in a Nigerian jersey but nevertheless musa and iheanacho can still deliver the goods against Argentina.
