Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun will rejoin the Mainz 05 squad for pre-season training on Thursday, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.


The 27-year-old Nigerian who featured 21 times and scored once as Mainz clinched a UEFA Europa League spot will undergo individual performance tests scheduled for Wednesday before the first public training on Thursday.

Also, Emmanuel Emenike returned to his parent club Fenerbahce to begin pre-season with the team after spending last season at UAE side Al Ain and Premier League side West Ham United.

He is expected to feature for Fenerbahce in some pre-season friendlies against Romanian side CSMS Lasi and Czech club Sparta Prague.

Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose who rejoined Celtic last week for pre-season was part of the 25-man squad that jetted out to Slovenia with the Hoops on a four-game tour.

Their first match on the tour is against local side NK Celje on Thursday night. On the back of that, they will then hop across the border to face Austrian outfit Sturm Graz on Sunday, July 3.

The following Wednesday Celtic will travel to the Slovenian capital in a match with Olimpija Ljubljana, before finishing off with a friendly contest against Maribor, the side who dumped them out of the Champions League play-off round two years ago.

Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Kenneth Omeruo and Odion Ighalo are expected to rejoin their respective clubs this weekend.
