Nigeria’s U23 team coach, Samson Siasia, admits his team could have scored more than four goals against Congo in their CAF U23 Championship qualifier on Sunday, but remains upbeat ahead of their decisive second led in Brazzaville in a fortnight, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Dream Team went 2-0 up through Junior Ajayi, though he also missed some clear chances.
Congo however reduced the deficit through Nkoukou Miose to set up a difficult second leg in Brazaville.
Siasia however assures that his team will work on their mistakes.
“We missed a lot of chances. We could have scored more than four goals. But the boys played well. We’ll work on our mistakes,” the Beijing 2008 Olympics silver medallist stated.
Congo coach Claude Le Roy admitted his team were lucky to concede only two goals in Port Harcourt, and said the second leg will be tougher.
“We were lucky to lose only 2-1. The Nigeria team is better than the Ghana team. It will be tougher for us in Brazzaville,” Leroy who masterminded a 3-2 win over Nigeria in a 2015 AFCON qualifier in 2014 told journalists at the end of the match in Port Harcourt.
