–Hails his boys for the away victory
The chief coach of the National U-23 Eagles, Samson Siasia has said even though his team defeated their Gabonese counterparts by a heavy score line of 1-4, his team is still work in progress as he is trying to still get the right players for the right position.
Speaking after the game, Coach Siasia said the Gabonese were no pushovers as they gave his team a good fight, but because he knew nothing about them, his boys trained very hard and played to instructions and that was why they were able to beat the host at their back yard.
Commending the boys for putting up a brave show in their first competitive game, the former Super Eagles gaffer added that many of the boys were playing big time football for the first time, and that hopefully as they play together they will bond well.
“Putting in mind that this team has been together for barely 3 months then Nigerians should appreciate what this boy did today, I am really impressed with all of them, they played as a team, meaning that all the hard work we put them through for this past 3 months were not in vane”Coach Siasia called on Nigerians to come out in their numbers in the return leg, as there is a bright future for Nigeria football with these young lads.It would be recalled that the Dream Team VI defeated their Gabonese counterparts by 1-4 courtesy of goals scored by Junior Ajayi, Oghenekaro Etebo, and Peter Onyekachi
