–National U-23 Eagles coach dreams win in Lusaka
National U-23 Eagles coach Samson Siasia has explained why he decided to invite five players from the victorious Flying Eagles team ahead of their All Africa Games qualifier away to Zambia.
Skipper of the Flying Eagles Musa Mohammed, Taiwo Awoniyi, Mustapha Abdullahi, Bernard Bulbwa and Dele Alampasu were all drafted into the Dream Team on Sunday in preparation for the return leg.
Speaking with Complete Sports, Siasia said the rationale behind their invitation was because of their outstanding performance at the just concluded Africa Youth Championship in Senegal which they won.
“They are quality players that I have been monitoring even before now and the fact that they are just coming back from a competition, we will still get that potential that can help us in them,” says Siasia.
“We saw how the team performed in Senegal and these are young players that can add qualities to our team mostly in the away match. We need players that are mobile and can score, that are why we inviteed them for the away match.”
In the first leg played inside the Abuja National Stadium, the Dream Team were forced to a 0-0 draw by the Zambians.
The return leg will be played on April 11 in Zambia.
