Sigurdsson Sets Sights On Ton

Gylfi Sigurdsson is targeting 100 Premier League goals after reaching the 50 mark in Everton’s 2-1 win over Leicester City. Richarlison fired Everton ahead after seven minutes, before Ricardo Pereira’s first Leicester goal hauled the hosts level before the break.

However, Sigurdsson’s 50th Premier League goal, when he found the top corner from almost 30 yards, won it for Everton with 13 minutes left on the clock.

The midfielder has scored five times for the Toffees this season and has now set his sights on a century of top-flight strikes.

“It was certainly a nice way to get my 50th Premier League goal. Now I can go for the hundred,” Sigurdsson said. “There’s not many players who have reached the 100 so if I could get there it would be incredible.

“I’ve got a few more years and hopefully I will stay injury-free, keep scoring goals and see where I end up.
“From the minute it left my foot I had a feeling it was going in. I made a very good contact with the ball. You never know with these balls but it was nice to see it dip at the end.”

The winner came after Foxes defender Wes Morgan was earlier dismissed after picking up two yellow cards.
