Everton boss Marco Silva says he couldn’t guarantee Nikola Vlasic regular action this season so it was better he left on loan. Vlasic made the switch to Russian giants CSKA Moscow last month where it’s hoped he will get plenty of first-team football.
After joining from Hadjuk Split, the 20-year-old struggled for action last season under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce, making just 19 appearances in all competitions, of which only 11 were starts.
The Croatia international may have thought Silva’s appointment this summer would have offered him a better chance of game-time.
However, the former Watford boss has explained he was still too far down the pecking order and it was best for him to move on.
“We have to take decisions and sometimes when you take a decision it looks, in that moment, not the best decision for the player,” Silva told the Liverpool Echo.
“Last season we had, for the same position, Gylfi (Sigurdsson), (Wayne) Rooney, Vlasic, Davy Klaassen and others can play there and Vlasic can also play on the sides but this is not his best position.
“He feels more comfortable playing behind the striker but this season we have Gylfi, we have Kieran (Dowell) and you can also play there with Bernard as well.”
The Portuguese added: “I spoke with him and told him my idea. He told me that he didn’t want to stay in the same situation as last season, not playing all of the games, and so I think we have found the best solution for him.”
Vlasic has already made four appearances for CSKA but has yet to register a goal on loan.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
