Stoke City are lining up a deal for Leicester City right-back Danny Simpson, reports claim. Gary Rowett, who took charge at the bet365 Stadium this summer, is eager to bolster his defensive options before the loan window closes at the end of the month and he is believed to have identified Simpson as a target.
The 31-year-old, a member of the Foxes’ title-winning side two years ago, has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Claude Puel and is free to look for another club before the deadline.
Several clubs are claimed to have shown an interest in the right-back, including Darren Moore’s West Bromwich Albion, but it is Stoke that are winning the race for his signature right now.
It is thought a season-long loan deal will be agreed and this would effectively end Simpson’s Leicester career with his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.
