Skrzybski Keen To Get Going At Schalke

Schalke’s Steven Skrzybski has set his sights on making an impact at the club after finally making his debut. The striker signed from Union Berlin in the summer but has been plagued by a muscle injury, meaning he has had to bide his time.

Skrzybski got his chance on Wednesday, replacing Yevhen Konoplyanka after 77 minutes of the goalless Champions League draw with Galatasaray.

Die Konigsblauen have endured a poor start to the season, sitting 16th in the Bundesliga ahead of Sunday’s trip to RB Leipzig.

After the joy of his debut, the 25-year-old is now looking to ignite a Schalke attack which he believes has been lacking edge.

“It was a great feeling, which I have waited a long time for,” said the 25-year-old. “I’m relieved and also happy that I’ve finally made my competitive debut for Schalke.

“We were strong at the back and had our chances to win the game, but unfortunately didn’t take our chances. Overall I think we need to be a bit more clinical.”
