#SoccerTalk Video: Why I Petitioned FIFA On Video Technology — Mumini Alao

Don't miss this video if you are truly a follower of the beautiful game – football.

Soccer Talk guru, Mumini Alao is back again. This time he gives an exciting perspective to the knotty issue of Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The video technology designed to assist the centre referee in making flawless judgements in key moments of the game is being implemented at the ongoing 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Saint Petersburg Russia.

The football fraternity across the world is however divided on the usefulness or otherwise of this technology. Some say it's slowing down the game and also killing the excitement it generates. Others say it's a welcome development, since it will address so many referees' human errors that have denied worthy winners in the past.

Alao reveals in this video that he took a firm stance on this issue 17 years ago after the referees' error denied Nigeria a penalty kick goal scored by Victor Ikpeba against Cameroon in the final of the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations, on February 13 2000.

Alao remonstrated and petitioned FIFA right away, making a firm recommendation for video technology. And he got a reply from FIFA.

See this video, and hear the details and more on why he believes that Video Assistant Referee will be a CHANGE that will make football even more beautiful.
