Enyimba FC midfielder Kingsley Sokari is upbeat that the two-time CAF Champions League winners can win the title again for the third time, reports Completesportsnigeria.com
Sokari who was recently invited to the Super Eagles for Nigeria’s friendly against the Ghana U-23 national side and against South Africa in the ill-fated 2015 AFCON qualifier spoke with Completesportsnigeria.com after their 2014 Federation Cup triumph at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
“We are overjoyed by this victory and we want to make a strong statement in the Champions League,” Sokari reveals.
“This present team is ambitious and want to emulate the feats achieved by the 2003 and 2004 squads.
Sokari while revealing that former Eagles captain Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha is his hero in Nigerian football admits that Dolphins gave Enyimba a scare in the first half.
“The first half of the final was dominated by Dolphins, I agree. They are a good team anyway.
“But we never gave up and the coach told us at half time to take the game to them instead of sitting back. We eventually punished them with a good counter attacking move,” the gifted player concludes.
Enyimba will join Kano Pillars in representing Nigeria at the CAF Champions League while Dolphins and Warri Wolves will play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
