Sokari: Hungary Game A Cup Final

By Johnny Edward:

Flying Eagles midfielder Kingsley Sokari is targetting progress with the team and realises a win over Hungary in Sunday's Group E clash will guarantee qualification into the second round of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

The Enyimba star insists that the fixture against Hungary will determine how far Manu Garba's side will go.

"We know we must win and that's why the game will be a Cup final," he told completesportsnigeria.com.

He also believes that he needs to be score more goals at the FIFA U-20 World Cup to maintain his place in the starting line-up, particularly owing to the presence of Manchester City star Kelechi Iheanacho.

Sokari  replaced Iheanacho in the starting line-up against North Korea and scored.

The Enyimba player believes that he should work harder if he is to continue in his role for the team which seeks to win the first U-20 world title for Nigeria.

"I've still got a lot to improve on and a lot to learn," he told completesportsnigeria in a chat.

"I can score more goals and I need to score more goals to stay in the starting X1."

Kingsley,it’s not always about scoring goals but doing your primary role of creating chances and holding possession to relief ur defense of any attack and mind u, you are not rivalling iheanacho,if u play well,d coach may find a way to use you two together, I see you both solving the problem of lack of creativity in d super eagle midfield in d very nearest so don’t draw a battle line,it’s a game filled with fun so enjoy it, do your thing and top clubs in Europe will come begging for your signature. We have high expectation on you guy,we see you as d next super eagle, all of u and that will only happen if u succeed.. do your part on d field while we here in naija will keep staying awake 2am to watch u as our own part.up flying eagle. God bless naija

  • it is not a must win game. Adraw is equally good enough. have tthey being studying the group standings? They should not go in and throw everything away because with a loss we are effectively knocked out. It is not a must win game but it is a must not lose one. A draw is good enough.

Nigeria’s match against Hungary U-20 on Sunday is a must-win; anything short of that is a disaster and automatic elimination for Nigeria. The Flying Eagles must improve their game and win if not they have no excuse.
