Newly invited Super Eagles star, Kingsley Sokari says he is ready to fight for a regular shirt in the senior national team as he tells RICHARD JIDEAKA that he feels happy being in camp with the likes of Vincent Enyeama, Mikel Obi and other foreign based players.
How do you feel being in same camp with foreign based players?
It’s a privilege to be in the same team with the likes of Mikel Obi, Vincent Enyeama, Emmanuel Emenike and others. I am very happy to stand side by side these big players whom I have been watching from far distance. Having the opportunity of playing with the players I have been watching for years gave me joy and encouragement. I feel great.
Were you jittery of anyone of them in your first training?
Initially, yes but not anymore because they made me feel at home, but the first time I entered the camp, I was afraid and after training with them, I gained confidence and I am okay now.
What are you looking forward to in the game?
It’s a very big game in Congo but I believe the way the coach talked to us, the approach and everything coupled with good players in the camp, we are going to come out victorious on Saturday.
As a home based player, you know there are lot of big names in the midfield, do you think you can break into the team?
It’s very difficult but with the courage, the ability and my desire to improve on my game, day by day, I believe I will break into the team. We have more than one million Nigeria who know how to play but they are not here. I am not here to be a bench warmer.
Are you hoping to play outside the country?
I believe if everything works out well, next January, I will be in Europe by God’s grace.
Which of the leagues are you aiming to play?
Spain and that is where my target is. With the pattern of play, Spain is my target but I won’t mind England or Turkey
Will Enyimba win the Federation Cup?
Having lost the league to Kano Pillars, I think we should win the Fedederation Cup to appease our fans for their support.
