Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Angel Gomes isn’t the only United academy-produced talent knocking on the first-team door at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils caretaker boss introduced teenage forward Gomes from the bench against Huddersfield on Boxing Day to carry on a tradition that many former United managers have fostered down the years.
And Solskjaer recognises that Gomes isn’t the only prospect who could burst onto the scene in the next few months with youngsters like striker Mason Greenwood, midfielder Jimmy Garner and winger Tahith Chong also capable of a breakthrough.
He said: “As Sir Matt Busby once said, if they are good enough, they are old enough. “We need young players coming through. It is important for the academy. “We have top talents in the Under-18s knocking on the door now.”
