Elias Sorensen sealed Newcastle’s EFL Trophy win at Notts County on Tuesday and Ben Dawson says there’s more to come from the Dane. The 19-year-old’s well-taken finish in a 2-0 win at Meadow Lane keeps the young Magpies top of Northern Group G and on the brink of the knockout stages.
And for Sorensen, who has now scored eight goals in all competitions, his latest strike made it four goals in eight days after two against Fulham in Premier League 2 and another one against County’s Under-23s in the Premier League Cup.
Newcastle professional development coach Dawson told the Chronicle: “He’s working his socks off.
“He can be a testing character at times; you can see from his body language on the pitch he gets really annoyed with himself if he has a bad touch or missed a chance.
“But the good this is he’s willing to work hard and he’s willing to listen.
“He hasn’t had much competition in the last few weeks through injuries and other things but he’s managed to keep his standards really high – and that shows through his performances on the pitch.”
