A hat-trick from Real Madrid’s Isco and a goal each from former Chelsea striker Diego Costa, Thiago Alcantara and Liverpool flop Iago Aspas saw Spain inflict the heavy defeat on Argentina.
Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi got Argentina’s only goal.
Isco has become the first player from Real Madrid to score a hat-trick for Spain since Fernando Morientes in 2003 against Ecuador.
Barcelona star forward Lionel Messi was not in the squad for Argentina in the game.
Costa broke the deadlock in the 12th minute before Isco made it 2-0 in the 27th minute.
Otamendi reduced the deficit for Argentina in the 39th minute.
Isco however restored Spain’s two-goal advantage in the 52nd minute to make it 3-1.
Bayern Munich midfielder Alcantara got in on the scoring act to put Spain 4-1 up.
Aspas extended the Spaniards lead to 5-1 in the 74th minute before Isco completed his hat-trick to end the game 6-1 to Spain.
