Spain became the third team after France and Italy to advance to the next round of the 2016 European Championship after the La Furoja comfortably dispatched Turkey 3-0 in a Group D clash in Nice on Friday night to extend their unbeaten run to 14 in the competition.
A brace from Alvaro Morata and a strike from Nolito sealed the win for the defending champions led by Vicente del Bosque.
The Juventus striker headed in Nolito’s cross for the opener in the 34th minute. Nolito got the second goal for the two-time European Championship winners when he slotted home Cesc Fabrega’s deflected pass from 10 yards in what was a one-sided affair.
Three minutes into the second half Morata scored the third goal as he tapped home past Volkan Babacan in goal for Turkey, who must now beat Czech Republic by a heavy scoreline to stand a realistic chance of progressing in third place.
A through pass from Andres Iniesta found Jordi Alba inside the box who unselfishly squared for Alvaro Morata to tap home.
Gerard Pique came close to opening the scoring with a header as the Spanish side dominated the encounter throughout.
Turkey offered the occasional foray forward but were no match for the midfield drive and energy on show led by Andreas Iniesta.
