Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had the Manchester United squad eating together on his first day as interim manager, club insiders have revealed. The Old Trafford legend took charge of his first training session at the club’s Carrington HQ on Thursday morning and is quickly determined to improve the mood behind the scenes following the sacking earlier this week of Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese failed to even show for last Friday’s player Christmas lunch after training, which didn’t go down well with the rank and file staff at the club.
Former boss Sir Alex Ferguson was always a big advocate of the team eating and talking together in the players’ restaurant, something Mourinho didn’t appear engaged with during his own tenure.
However, it’s understood Solskjaer had lunch with his players yesterday at Carrington and spoke to them about the need for unity – both on and off the pitch.
