Sri Lanka bowling coach Zoysa charged with match-fixing

Sri Lanka’s bowling coach Nuwan Zoysa has been provisionally suspended after being charged with match-fixing by the ICC. The 40-year-old, who took 64 Test wickets from 30 matches, has been charged with three counts of breaching the anti-corruption code, including ‘fixing or contriving’ aspects of an international match.
The Colombo-born coach, who claimed 95 one-day scalps during his playing career, will also need to answer the charge of encouraging a player to influence the results of the game.
The charge follows on from the bombshell of corruption allegations surrounding former captain and selector Sanath Jayasuriya.
The 49-year-old, who played 445 one-dayers for the Islanders, has denied all allegations after being charged with two counts of breaching the ICC’s anti-corruption code earlier this month.
Zoysa, who has two weeks to respond to the charges, is also accused of failing to report ‘approaches to engage in corrupt conduct’.
