Stoke Star: Moses Has Been Our Best Player

Ryan Shawcross says that Stoke City’s Victor Moses has been the club’s best player in every game he has played so far.

Moses was brought in on a loan deal from Chelsea this summer and he has evidently wasted no time making an impression at the Britannia Stadium.

Blessed with pace and power, the Nigerian international has proven to be a threat to defences across the top-level and Shawcross believes he has been their player of the season so far.

“He (Moses) has been our best player,” he said to the Sentinel. “Every game he’s played he’s been our best player on the pitch.”

Moses has came up short at the very top level of English football so far in his career, but he looks to have been a fine addition from Mark Hughes.

The Potters boss has continued to implement his style on the team this season and they have made a decent start, if not a blistering one.

The Midlands side have been rather inconsistent, but have shown their threat in beating Manchester City away and Shawcross has revealed that he is happy with the way that this season has gone so far.

“Our form has been brilliant, apart from Sunderland,” he said. “If you look at the table, we are only four points off the top four, which we would have taken at the start of the season.

“It’s up to us to keep on picking up points so that come January time we can kick on like we did last year.”

Another player who should take great credit for helping Stoke amass the amount of points they already have is Peter Crouch.

The striker was linked with a move away from the club over the summer, but his form has kept him firmly in the first-team squad and Shawcross believes that he deserves international recognition for him form.

“He’s been like a different player,” he said. “He’s gained a yard of pace, looks strong and got in good areas. Hopefully, he can continue and keep on scoring goals.

“I know how difficult he is to play against because he scored quite a few for Spurs against me. We want to keep him in our team and keep him at our club. His record speaks for itself.”

“He offers a different threat and if you look to change it in the last 20 minutes and throw big Pete on, he will cause problems. So I would definitely like to have him if I was England manager.”
