Even as the league governing body has refused to accept a payment of €222million that meets Neymar's release clause, potentially presenting a stumbling block to the player's proposed transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, strike-partner Luis Suarez has followed Lionel Messi in posting a message of support to the Brazilian ahead of his expected move from Barcelona to PSG.
Suarez, who formed the fearsome MSN front three alongside Neymar and Messi, has posted his own heartfelt farewell message.
"My friend I wish you the best in everything that comes!!!" he wrote. "Also thank you for your support, for everything that I learned with you and for the unique moments that we spent together!!!!
"Keep like this and never change love you little bro."
Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday that Neymar had informed them of his desire to leave, with the Brazil star reportedly having undergone a PSG medical in Porto hours later but the proposed transfer hit a stumbling block on Thursday after LaLiga rejected an attempt by lawyers acting on behalf of Neymar to deposit the payment to activate his €222m release clause.
Specialist sports lawyer Juan de Dios Crespo arrived with a notary at the league's offices in Madrid early on Thursday in order to deposit the official documentation, including the cheque to release the Brazil international from his current Barcelona deal.
However, LaLiga has refused to accept the money. A LaLiga statement read: "We can confirm that legal representatives of the player came to LaLiga to deposit the clause and that this has been rejected. This is all the information we are going to give at the moment."
LaLiga president Javier Tebas has previously warned that they would block any attempt by PSG to push ahead with the deal and would take their complaint to UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulators if necessary.
