Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde will rotate his side for the Champions League visit of Tottenham and Luis Suarez will miss out. The Catalan giants have already qualified for the knockout stage as group winners and Valverde has confirmed he will not risk Suarez, who is managing a knee injury.
The Uruguay international featured in the 4-0 derby win over Espanyol at the weekend and Valverde says it is “not his intention” to play Suarez for two consecutive games.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Valverde indicated he will make a number of changes ahead of Sunday’s La Liga trip to Levante.
He said: “There are sure to be rotations tomorrow; we just had a big game on Saturday. Every game is an opportunity to show what you’re capable of doing.”
The fixture may be a dead rubber for Barca, but Spurs need to win at the Nou Camp and Valverde insists his side will be looking to end the group stage with a victory even if they are already through to the next round.
He added: “We’re expecting a tough game against a very strong side, who have qualification for the next stage at stake. We’ll be going for the win.”
