FC Barcelona came from a goal down to annihilate Girona 6-1 who were without Olanrewaju Kayode in Saturday’s La Liga Santander clash at the Camp Nou.
Kayode is yet to feature for Girona in 2018.
Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick while Lionel Messi scored twice in the encounter. Philipe Coutinho also got on the score sheet.
Christian Portu gave the visitors the lead after three minutes, pouncing on an error in the Barcelona defence.
Suarez restored parity two minutes later when he was played through on goal by Messi.
Messi made it 2-1 in the 30th minute, skipping past his marker to slot home his 22nd LaLiga Santander goal of the season.
The Argentine skipper made it 3-1 with a cool finish six minutes later.
Messi has also scored 370 La Liga goals in 407 games, 68 more than Cristiano Ronaldo who scored a brace for Real Madrid in the win over Alaves earlier on Saturday.
Suarez made it 4-1 a minute before half-time, finishing off Coutinho’s squared pass.
Coutinho made it 5-1 in the 66th minute before Suarez earned himself the match ball, bagging his third in the game 10 minutes later to make it 6-1.
The strike took Suarez’s tally to 20 this season with six assists.
