Watford forward, Isaac Success , says he had a brief discussion with his Nigeria teammate, Kelechi Iheanacho to confirm that the red card to Etienne Capoue in the Hornets’ 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday was a howler by the referee, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Capoue was penalised for a two-footed challenge on substitute striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the closing stages of the game. Success was pictured showing his concern as Iheanacho was left in a heap.
Success has declared that the Frenchman was wrongly dismissed following a close chat with Iheanacho concerning the action that led to the sending off.
He now hopes that the FA will overturn the decision and free the midfielder from imminent suspension.
“I spoke to Iheanacho and he said there was no contact by Capoue. I feel sorry for him because he has been one of our best players. Let’s see what the FA will do because it was never a red card.” Success stated after the game.
Two first half goals from Jamie Vardy and James Maddison gave Leicester City victory in the encounter at the King Power Stadium.
