Sunshine Stars upstaged Enyimba at the summit of the Nigerian Professional Football League on Thursday following a 2-1 win against Warri Wolves in Akure.
Cheered on by a partisan home crowd which included the Ondo State women's side, Sunshine Queens, the Akure Gunners rallied back from an early Ikechukwu Ibenegbu strike to win the game.
The visitors started the game brightly and were rewarded when Ibenegbu slammed the ball home in the 12th minute beyond the Ikechukwu Ezenwa in goal for the hosts.
The home side did not allow that early setback demoralise them as they went in search of the equalizer.
They were rewarded for their effort in the 34th minute when Stephen Eze hit the back of the net to make it 1-1.
Both sides had chances to increase the tally in the second half, but it was Sunshine who scored the decisive goal in added time through Kingsley Udoh to send their guests back to Warri empty handed.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars maintained their invincibility at home with a 4-1 thrashing of Giwa Football Club of Jos.
The Masu Gida were awarded a penalty in the fourth minute which was coolly dispatched home by Rabiu Ali.
Adamu Mohammed doubled Okey Emordi's side lead in the 13th minute while Ocheme Udoh got one back for Giwa in the 37th minute.
But any hope of a comeback by the visitors was dashed two minutes later when Ali converted from the spot once again to maintain the advantage.
Adamu got his own brace after scoring his side's fourth of the evening on 59 minutes.
In the last game of the day,Taraba lost 2-1 at home to Wikki Tourists. The Jalingo-based side are without a win in their last nine matches and the result has further added to the pressure of the team head coach Tony Ogharanduku.
