Super Eagles: Who Is Hot, Or Not Hot For Sudan Clash?

Super Eagles: Who Is Hot, Or Not Hot For Sudan Clash?

As the Super Eagles’ crucial 2015 AFCON qualifying games against Sudan fast approach, we turn our attention on the form of the players who will be in action (or sit on the bench) against Sudan.

Over 15 of the players invited by coach Stephen Keshi were involved in their clubs’ league games over the weekend across Europe, Africa and Asia.

The Eagles unfortunately will not have the services of Victor Moses and Babatunde Michael due to injuries .

The team continues to be deprived of the skill and experience of Obafemi Martins, Ike Uche, Brown Ideye (though on the mend from a recent injury) and the youthful exuberance but the impressive talent of Kelechi Iheanacho, amongst others due to the cheer refusal of Stephen Keshi.

Based on the present form of the invited players, which player do you think could be the Eagles’ biggest hopes? Which players do you think are ‘not hot’ (off form) and don’t deserve their invitation for these games?

Which player(s) do you think could be the Eagles’ joker in the October 11th and 15th games?

Are there players you think Keshi should have invited but he didn’t? What do you make of Keshi’s decision not to invite certain players to the team?

  • Leave Keshi alone to select his players. Some players are good scoring goals for club but not good for country.
How many goals have Uche and martins scored for Nigeria? Who would Ihenacho replace? His time will come Lets call a spade a spade.

  • Michael O 7 years ago

I used to be a fan of Stephen Keshi, but I must admit he has lost the plot. I do not see any jokers in his squad. He has no justification for excluding Uche, Martins given their current forms.
There is a lack of creativity in midfield with over reliance on Ongazi. This was clear in the Argentina-Nigeria game. Bring in Ihenacho instead of the long list of unknown and tested players
    Long live Eagles of Nigeria.

  • For me, Iheanacho and Martins are the missing links in Eagles camp. Martins is a fast attacker while Iheanacho is tricky to offer good assists.

Leave the coach to do his job. All these players you mentioned with the exception of Ihenacho, who I think needs playing time at his club to qualify for selection, have all been tried by Keshi. Martins was a shadow of himself the last time he was invited. Uche, as we now know it disrespected the coach and questioned his leadership during AFCON, even though he played badly during that tournament. Nigerians have all become coaches including their newly elected NFF president who made a useless comment about the coaching job of the super eagles lately.

  • chukwuma 7 years ago

Keshi have invited Martins two times already, can anybody tell me what happen? Ikechukwu Uche the VIP of last African cup of Nation. What a shame, Nigerian coaches.

  • Atenger Felix kaase 7 years ago

Keshi should be left alone to select who he deemed is fit to play. But in as much as he has the power to select who played for him,he must as a matter of fact give other players like martins and uche a second chance looking at their recent form for we all deserve a second chance.

i hate when people are so blind to the truth no good point to back up there comment all in one chorus [leave the coach alone to do is job] which job for good 6month all you can get from the mr technical is 5 draw 3 lost and 1 win and they still want us to leave him alone nonsense who hold him not to do is job

  • Haruna lukman is missing from dat list because d guy has wot it takes to b among dem, more so dis guy good like yaya,he can hold ball, he can score ,dis guy is a fantastic player and we need him at dis time.

  • francis 7 years ago

This is interesting, leave keshi alone?chai there is God ooooo,no doubt about keshi is a good manager but when one over welcome his or her stay it become something else, keshi’s over confident will soon bring his downfall, pls no mater what a player like uche will do to keshi as a father he just need to forgive him and again uche is one of our best striker as at now,pls let forget does fortunate goals scored by emenike at d nations cup,he just did not have the striker instinct.

  • francis 7 years ago

Though the injury sustained by. Success isaac at the u17 world cup did not allow people to know much about him, that guy is one of the regulars ryt now for his club side in spain and to be honest that guy is a problem to any defence in the world ,not to mention kelechi and matins, omoh, just to mention a few dat are inform ryt now for their club side, but what did emenike did and some other players that our so called”big boss”invited.pls let stop bordering our self, keshi as lost it,he no more in control.

  • I think Keshi have done well for Nigeria, however the recent result posted by the eagles show that something is wrong. Usually, bad followers will make bad leader, let us not forget that Keshi was the leader of a mafia in the then eagle even as a player, now he finds it difficult to stomach players misdemeanors, the team is not for him but for Nigeria, if we loose nation cup ticket, he will jet out to American and leave other Nigerians to bemoan our loss. Players invitation should be based solely on current form, therefore Martin’s and iheanacho should be in the team. The way we are going I don’t see us going to nations cup. If ballotelli and Suarez are still been managed, big boss wake up, this is super eagle of Nigeria not super eagle of Keshi!

  • oniwide olanisinmi 7 years ago

Leon Balogun should be given another chance.

  • Samuel 7 years ago

I don’t know why some people will said leave the coach to do his job and I don’t know the job that this Keshi is doing he is killing Eagles and seem nobody believe, Eagles didn’t play any good football under Keshi there just struggling, Keshi just won nation cup with collective efforts not that he merit it, after that he fail us in confederation cup and also look at all friendly matches he play before world cup he can’t even win any of them and he manage win only one match against Bosnia with help of referee, Now his team can’t beat Congo and South Africa, I don’t know why he will left Ike Uche out of his team who is our eagles best striker before he took over the job, he took Uche to the nation cup and bench him and now using Uche until Emenike got injury in the final then how do you expect those player to perform? Keshi like to invited a players who ha can get Eguje from or one he can sell to Europe, Keshi has lost it, We saw how Eagles play good football under Siasia, therefore I advise that New NFF should call Siasia back let us forget the past Siasia done well it is just that some people in the glass house doesn’t like him by then that was why they rebelled against him to loose last match against Guinea, NFF should call Siasia back…Up Naija..Up NFF…Up Eagles!!!!!

  • Samuel 7 years ago

Keshi will always said he is build team and since 2012 he can’t form a team that Naija will boast of, he didn’t know anything about coaching he should leave now because his time is over, let try Siasia again…

@ chuks.na U go hug transformer.thunder fire U.may d Gods shave U wth blunt razor blade.what luisehero said is correct.i dnt work on sentiments.keshi shld go.he is nt performing

  • chike abamara 7 years ago

Ik uche still remains the arrow head of nigeria’s attack.he us more clever and sharper than emenike.emenike is ok but uche has the wit, very fast on d ball nd gud ball skills.emenike has gone 7 matches wout a goal nd keshi doesnt still see anything wrong.infact, keshi shld go.he has lost it

  • nigeria i dnt knw ther problem to do wel in ther mach o bt i knw one day nigeria go good i which them best of luck o

  • Idume Kingsley 7 years ago

I personally will say that the coach knows the best player to invite. I read an article where Keshi was saying that Uche need an explanation on why he is said to be a bad person and I was wondering is it why he did not honour the invitation to place for his country? Still some blind Nigerians will be calling the coach bad name. If it were to be in Spain will that happen? Is Like Uche the saviour we are clamouring for? Let the coach do his job because we need continuity in the Eagles.

  • If Stephen Keshi feels he has no need for players like Martins, Haruna, Promise, Iheanachor, Ikechukwu, then there is a hidden agenda. May be Keshi wants to act the scripts of those Nigerians who do not believe in our local coaches. Just read the recent media chat of our new NFF President, Amaju Pinnick; that Nigeria might consider hiring a foreign coach should the need arise. Keshi is simply his own problem; nothing wrong with our indigenous coaches. Keshi’ selections are not comfortable.

  • OffSyd 7 years ago

Keshi, we ‘re just patiently waiting for the day we’d see your back. Believe me we not gonna miss you. not in the slightest

  • saammy 7 years ago

keshi should leave aside sentiment bcos dis is super eagle of nigeria and not super eagle of keshi or anybody and he’s representing d masses he shud try and forgv some players dat has offended him bcos nigerian need result nt stories and i suggest he shud try onasi and sunday mba in dat midfield instead of mikel and watchout….

  • Idung 7 years ago

let’s b realistic even d afcon was fluke to keshi & naija. we were happy but the way he is still going if we pick him as a coach he will fail. I don’t want to mention names. but almost all his new inclusions r flops.

  • keshi as not done bad to say but he should bring in kelechi and akpan to the team as mikel should live the national team is not the kind of midfielder we need look at past oliseh and okocha this were complete midfielder mikel should go OK eagle will win

  • Winner 7 years ago

Can our vote make any difference? Why is the coach hired? Pls leave Nigerians alone

  • john ayobami oso 7 years ago

I don’t believe that a reasonable human being could seek how is going to fail. Let’s see what’s going to happen, I believe that keshi is a right thinking man.
