Super Eagles’ Likely Starting Lineup Vs Sychelles: Collins, Kalu Favoured

Super Eagles’ Likely Starting Lineup Vs Sychelles: Collins, Kalu Favoured

By Johnny Edward:
SC Paderborn of Germany left-back, Jamilu Collins and Bordeaux’s Samuel Kalu look set to make their debut for the Super Eagles in today’s crucial 2019 AFCON qualifying match against The Pirates of Seychelles in Victoria, Completesportsnigeria.com has reliably gathered.

Both players have been impressive in training and are among the four uncapped players in the Super Eagles squad for the game.

Collins looks a certainty to start at left-back in the encounter, while Kalu will be deployed on the right flank, barring any last minute change coach Gernot Rohr.

In defence line, Leon Balogun will partner Kenneth Omeruo while Bryan Idowu who trained at right back could be deployed in that position.

In midfield, Gernot Rohr is spoilt for choice as he has a tough call to make from the pool of Ogenyi Onazi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi, John Ogu, Kelechi Nwakali and Joel Obi.

It remains to be seen if Odion Ighalo will return to the starting line-up after losing his place in the team. Ighalo who is on a nine game goal drought last was subbed on in his last two games for the Super Eagles.

Interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised seeing coach Rohr with his funny selection in tomorrow’s match. Anyways, go and make yourself proud coach. Good luck. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • It’s almost certain Ighalo will be in, and with disastrous outcome. GR has an irresistible attraction to mistakes, and then he’ll come out singing about his ‘young team.’

Arnaut Groenveld danjuma was born in lagos about 21 yrs ago. He is a Dutch-Nigerian footballer who is currently plying trade in club brugge of Belgium. He has stated categorically that he wants to play for Nigerian national team at senior level.
I dnt know what super eagles scout is really scouting men!
Eviemuno donimic ejaria is really doing well in the colour of rangers of Scotland and he is a good and future replacement for Mikel in the national team.
Nigeria coaches needs to go meet those aforementioned players and work on how possible to cap them for us soon because they are good assets instead of chasing retired Victor moses.
Victor agali I hope you know your work as the super eagles scout o.

Pls rohr leave onazi, joel obi in d bench and play nididi, nwakali, etabo in d milfield then play oyekuru, musa and ihanacho front

  • …The best Goal Keeper in Camp: AKPEYI
    …The best Mid fielder… ONAZI
    …The best forward….IGHALO.
The same set of players we all wanted out of the team.
I’m beginning to doubt our sport journalists..or may be the younger players in the squad treat them with too much respect in training because even if they perform well against Seychelles, they are still d same to me.

  • no need to watch dis match. midfield dat suppose to be comprise of ogu or onaz#6 ndidi#8 etebo#10. attack suppose to be iheanacho#9 musa#7 onyekuru#11

  • dont use dis match for experiment. thiz is not a friendly match. let de midfield remain etebo ndidi ogu. friendly match is comming up where u can try ur players. let de attack be iheanacho musa and onyekuru for de absence of iwobi. thank you. God bless you all

Wonder why guys are panicking because even a local coach and woeful striker will use this match to shine. I won’t be interested because eagles have failed at the World Cup this is exactly Moses retired there is no new challenge. I don’t know if anyone thinks the same a match like this should be a walk over and not a subject of panick or yardstick to praise a Rohr or Ighalo who failed when it mattered if he let him score 50 today and Rohr wins 75 zero I repeat Rohr has failed when it mattered most simple

  • This is the worst Coach ever for Super Eagle even with enormous resources thrown at him he still fail.pls why all this players in Nationwide league and second division in Europe while we have enough players in NPFL? ( Rohor the Riots) Sorry for Nigeria football sprear headed by Amaju Pinnick and his white Messiah Coach.May The Big Boss SK Soul Rest in perfect Peace Amen.

  • @kd10. ..no disrespect o! But can u please name 10 or 5 outstanding NPFL players that u know can displace the so called lower European division players? I won’t even mind if u can name the payers they will replace. Thanks

I will prefer the coach plays Ahmed Musa as his top 9 with Simeon Nwankwo behind him and Onyekuru played wide with Iheanacho and Ighalo coming from the bench. For the midfield role Kelechi Nwankali plays in front of Etebo while Ndidi plays deep defensive role. Any of the defenders will be okay with me…

Gernot Rohr has never failed to surprise me. He’s a failure that hides behind the so called young team. He doesnt know talent when he sees one. He’s always confused whenever its time to pick first eleven. What he did to the likes of Ebuehi is still fresh in our mind. Nigeria deserves better than this.

Too many coaches here. You make some points, but not all are good. The coach has been watching the training sessions, he knows what he is seeing.
